Urea 46

What is it? Urea 46 is the most concentrated solid nitrogen fertilizer on the market. It's a white, crystalline substance that looks a bit like coarse salt. Each granule contains 46% nitrogen.

How is it used? Urea 46 is primarily used as a fertilizer to give crops a boost of nitrogen, which is a crucial nutrient for plant growth. Nitrogen is vital for:

    • Developing healthy green leaves
    • Improving crop yields
    • Producing proteins

Advantages of Urea 46:

    • High concentration: Makes it more efficient to transport and apply compared to less concentrated fertilizers.
    • Cost-effective: Provides a good amount of nitrogen per unit cost.
    • Versatility: Can be applied by broadcasting over the soil, incorporated into the soil, or dissolved in water for foliar application.

Important Considerations:

    • Potential for loss: Urea can convert to ammonia gas and be lost to the atmosphere (a process called volatilization) if not incorporated into the soil.
    • Over-application risks: Excess urea can lead to environmental problems like nutrient runoff. Careful application and nutrient management plans are important.

Note: It's always best to conduct a soil test to determine the right amount of urea 46 needed for your specific crops and soil conditions.
